Coffea arabica is the species behind most specialty coffee. Joe's Blend is 100% Arabica, medium roasted and milled fine enough to dissolve in a 21 g sachet. Arabica carries less caffeine and less bitterness than Robusta, which is why the cup tastes coffee-forward rather than harsh, and why it needs less sugar to be pleasant.

A coffee with benefits still has to taste like coffee first. Arabica gives a smoother, lower-acid cup that carries the three L's without extra sugar to hide bitterness.

Which instant coffee is 100% Arabica?

Joe's Blend is. The coffee in every sachet is 100% Arabica, medium roast. Most instant and 3-in-1 sachets in the Philippines use Robusta or a Robusta blend because it is cheaper and stronger in caffeine. Arabica is smoother and lower in acidity, which is why we chose it.

Arabica vs Robusta: what is the difference?

Arabica grows at higher altitude, tastes sweeter and smoother with notes of chocolate and fruit, and has roughly half the caffeine of Robusta. Robusta is hardier, more bitter, higher in caffeine and cheaper, which is why it fills most mass-market sachets. Joe's Blend is Arabica only.

How much L-theanine and caffeine is in one sachet?

Each sachet is 21 g of medium roast Arabica blend. The exact L-theanine and caffeine figures come from the certificate of analysis for the batch, and we publish them on this page as each batch is released. Arabica naturally carries less caffeine than Robusta, so expect a gentler lift than a Robusta 3-in-1.
