L-Glutathione

Glutathione is a tripeptide, three amino acids (glutamate, cysteine and glycine) that every cell in the body makes. It is the body's most abundant antioxidant inside cells. In the Philippines it is best known from glow supplements, which is exactly why we are careful: Joe's Blend makes no whitening claim, and the dermatology evidence does not support one either.

Why we use it

Why L-Glutathione is in the cup

Filipino coffee drinkers know glutathione and ask for it. We include it as an antioxidant ingredient and describe the research honestly. A 2016 dermatology review found the whitening evidence thin, and the FDA and ASC do not allow such claims, so you will not see them here.

What is L-glutathione, and why is it in a coffee?

Glutathione is a tripeptide the body makes itself, built from three amino acids, and it is studied mainly as an antioxidant. It is a familiar name in the Philippines because of capsules and drips. We put it in the sachet so the daily coffee habit carries it; we make no claim about what it will do for you.

Does glutathione whiten skin? Is Joe's Blend a whitening coffee?

No, Joe's Blend is not sold as a whitening coffee, and we do not make skin whitening claims. Philippine advertising rules bar whitening claims on food products, and we follow them. What we can say is that glutathione is studied as an antioxidant and that it is in every sachet. Anything beyond that is a claim we will not make.

Can I drink coffee while taking glutathione?

In Joe's Blend the two are already in the same sachet, and thousands of cups have been poured that way at our cafe and at home. If you also take glutathione capsules, drips or other supplements, tell your doctor what you are combining; we do not give supplement advice.
