The antioxidant

L-Glutathione

Glutathione is a tripeptide, three amino acids (glutamate, cysteine and glycine) that every cell in the body makes. It is the body's most abundant antioxidant inside cells. In the Philippines it is best known from glow supplements, which is exactly why we are careful: Joe's Blend makes no whitening claim, and the dermatology evidence does not support one either.

Glutathione is a tripeptide the body makes in every cell and its most abundant antioxidant inside cells. Joe's Blend includes it as an antioxidant ingredient only. We make no skin-whitening claim: a 2016 dermatology review found the whitening evidence thin, and Philippine regulators do not allow such claims.

Why we use it

Why is L-Glutathione in your coffee?

Filipino coffee drinkers know glutathione and ask for it. We include it as an antioxidant ingredient and describe the research honestly. A 2016 dermatology review found the whitening evidence thin, and the FDA and ASC do not allow such claims, so you will not see them here.

The research

What does the research on L-Glutathione say?

Peer-reviewed papers you can read yourself. We describe what they measured, never what will happen to you.

Education, not advice. Joe's Blend is coffee, not medicine, and carries no approved therapeutic claims. If you have a condition or take medication, talk to your doctor before adding anything new to your day.

FAQ

L-Glutathione questions people ask

Does glutathione in coffee whiten skin?

No, and we do not claim it does. A 2016 dermatology review found the oral-whitening evidence thin, and the Philippine FDA and Ad Standards Council do not permit whitening claims. Joe's Blend includes glutathione as an antioxidant, nothing more.

Is glutathione absorbed when you drink it?

Oral absorption is debated in the research: some studies report changes in the body's glutathione stores and others do not. We describe the studies rather than promise a result.

What foods contain glutathione?

The body makes its own glutathione, and it is also present in fresh fruit, vegetables and meat. In Joe's Blend it is listed on the label as an antioxidant ingredient.
